Dieta

I got an archive with several work documents, but instead of the usual zip or rar, it was a gz file. What is that? I can't unzip it and need the documents urgently. I’ll google it, but any tips here would be helpful.

It's just another type of archive file, like the others you mentioned. The difference is in the compression technology. I'm sure you can handle these files on a Mac with the right software. Check out some resources like Setapp for advice on what utility to use for gz files https://setapp.com/how-to/open-tar-gz-file. They have tons of useful information that’s helped me a lot with my Mac issues.
